Baggage Irregularities:
- Delayed Baggage Claim:
- In case of delay/loss of your checked baggage on arrival at destination, the 1st step is to notify the Baggage Help Desk near to baggage claim area to complete the report immediately.
- Fill up the form called Property Irregularity Report (PIR) with details of baggage i.e. color, size, identifying mark etc. to assist Nepal Airlines to trace the missing baggage within a reasonable time.
- When the missing baggage is not traced till 21 Days , passenger may raise the claim to Nepal Airlines along with all required documents for settlement.
- Nepal Airline’s liability for any lost baggage is at the rate of USD-20/- per KG. limited to USD 500.
- Interim Relief:
- The Delayed Baggage Interim relief is given to the passenger when total checked baggage failed to arrive.
- The same shall only to be offered to passengers who: are non-residents of the country of arrival (exceptions apply).
The payment is recorded in the file and in the event of final claim,
any interim relief payment will be deducted on final settlement.
- Damaged Baggage
- If your baggage is damaged during a flight, bring it to the Nepal Airlines baggage service , “Baggage Help Desk “at TIA immediately .
- All damages have to be reviewed and evaluated by the baggage service office personnel.
- When you have reported the damaged baggage, the airport representative will give you a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). This is a unique file reference, connected to your baggage, and you must be sure that you receive a copy of the Property Irregularity Report.
3.1 What information you’ll need to provide:
- Contact details
- Flight and baggage tag details
- Description/Evidence of the damage
- Purchase Bill
- Age of the bag.
Note: Depending on the type of damage to your baggage, it will be either repaired, replaced, or compensated for, with depreciation deducted based on the original purchase value and the age of the baggage, in accordance with Nepal Airlines’ internal rules and regulations.
3.2 Nepal Airlines is not liable for damage caused by:
- Over packing
- Water, rain or snow
- Fragile or perishable items inside
- Ordinary wear and tear (including superficial or non-structural damages).
- Damage to, or loss of, protruding parts of the baggage including, straps, pockets, hanger hooks, worn-out wheels, external locks, security straps, cover bag, name card, zipper tabs.
- Baggage accepted under the conditions of the Limited Release tag – this includes items retrieved or confiscated by the airport authorities or security personnel.
- Non- branded (Cheap quality) hard suitcases.
Note: Television should be in company packaged of container/box with inner cushioning for safe transportation. As it is considered as fragile item airlines is not liable for any compensation for its damaged.
- Missing Item from Passenger Compartment

- Ensure the safety of your valuables while traveling by placing them in checked baggage.

- Keep your valuable items under your personal custody by carrying them in your hand baggage.

- Please be advised that airlines will not assume liability for any missing valuables, such as gold, jewelry, money, electronic items, mobile phones, laptops, etc., from checked baggage in accordance with established air transportation regulations.

- Pilferage reports will only be initiated in World Tracer if there is a noticeable weight discrepancy between the checked-in and received bags.
Note: However, the company will assist on tracking the item and inform the passenger once the scheduled time is applicable.

- Interchange Case
- If baggage is misidentified (bag taken by the wrong passenger) Nepal Airlines will NOT compensate any of the passengers involved.
- The passenger who wrongly identified the bag is responsible for returning it to its original owner and to collect his/her bag from the baggage services office accordingly, or directly from the passenger who wrongly collected his bag.
